When I wrote THE IMAGE OF RACHEL CLAIR, I went a little out of my comfort zone. I love historical fiction, time travel, and historical romance. But, what I wrote ended up being a historical murder mystery that included rape. Never in my wildest dreams did I think I could ever write such a thing, but the subject of abuse is real and is usually pushed under the rug, as it was in 1909. Even though the era was the early twentieth century, the subject was a reality.
My next book is written under a pen name, and if you’re interested, send an email and I will give that name to you. The novel will be released in early 2020. Yes, it’s a historical romance set in New Orleans, a city where I lived for twelve years.
My advice for prospective writers? Write about places you know. Otherwise, it’s a crapshoot. Will you always wonder if you got it right, or did you describe a setting accurately?
This next novel describes elite New Orleanians, Mardi Gras, the elaborate balls, and a love that is lost. A little syrupy? Well, like I said, if you want to know the story and the author, email me. You’re sure to enjoy the culture, the food, and the back story of every character. Like they say in NOLA, “Laissez les bons temps rouler.” (Let the good times roll).
~Until next time,
